The Lucky Ones Roll Out Debut CD

Having earned pre-release raves from media outlets as far flung as Splendid e-zine, Sweden’s Revolver and Chicago’s influential WXRT-FM, The Lucky Ones’ self-titled debut is now available nationwide from Lost in America Music. Produced by Deep Elm recording artist David Singer, the 12-song CD weaves two songwriting voices and elements of pop, rock, soul and country into a single, cohesive musical fingerprint.

Both the album and the band itself are the culmination of a longtime collaboration between songwriters Rob Brookman and Dave Kay, who began performing as a duo in 1995. After several years honing their songs and their sound, the pair tapped three veteran Chicago musicians – Brian Anderson (piano), Mike Reed (drums) and Jon Williams (bass, accordion) – to form The Lucky Ones.

Bringing together classic songcraft with a thoroughly contemporary musical sensibility, The Lucky Ones is both timeless and timely – and a sure bet for anyone who loves great music.

CD available at CD Baby or Amazon.com.

News & Notes:

Delusions of Adequacy praised The Lucky Ones' self-titled debut recently, saying, "The songwriting and guitar work showcased throughout this entire album shows the Lucky Ones have pulled off a rarity in producing a CD that can be listened to as more than just background music from beginning to end."

The Lucky Ones debut CD continues to attract good press. Writing in Splendid, Josh Kazman calls the CD "a great buy" and says, "I've long felt familiar with The Lucky Ones' style... although I never thought it could affect me as strongly as their debut has." The review is here.

For Swedish-speakers, try this review of The Lucky Ones' CD in the 'zine Revolver. In it, Rolf Hansson says, "This is an unusual album in the sense that it is good all the way through. Actually, there is not a poor track on this record, all the songs are high quality."

"Unbeknownst to me, four discs I've enjoyed quite a bit over the last year were all put out by the same record label." So said WXRT-Chicago's Richard Milne of Lost in America Music before spinning "The Marquee" from The Lucky Ones' recently released debut. Richard pointed listeners to this site and added, "While you're there, do a little shopping. You can't go wrong." Needless to say, we think so. But it's nice to hear someone else say it.

WBEZ, Chicago's public radio station, recently aired the tune "Blue Down in Bucktown" from The Lucky Ones' debut CD. The station reported several e-mails from listeners asking how to get their hands on a copy of disc. If you're wondering the same thing, just follow the links above the CD artwork to the left.
